ISNET Co-Sponsors UN’s International Conference and Training on Space- Based Disaster Management and Climate Action

The Inter-Islamic Network on Space Sciences and Technology (ISNET) is pleased to announce its co-sponsorship of two major international capacity-building events to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan:

  • International Conference on “Leveraging Space Technology for EW4All, Climate Actions and Disaster Risk Assessment”
    Dates: 11–15 May 2026
  • International Training Course on “Space-Based Disaster Management – Shifting Focus from Reactive to Proactive Approaches”
    Dates: 18–22 May 2026

The events are organized by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in cooperation with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and hosted by SUPARCO, with the support of international partners including UN-SPIDER, APSCO, and ISNET.

The themes address urgent global challenges and align closely with the strategic priorities of ISNET Member States in the areas of disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and the application of space science and technology for sustainable development. The focus on space-based tools for preparedness, response, and impact assessment supports capacity building, evidence-based policymaking, and strengthened cooperation among Member States.

Nominations and Registration

ISNET invites its Member States to nominate suitable experts and professionals to participate in the Conference and/or the Training Course. Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official online registration platform:

Deadline:
14 March 2026 (Online registration and abstract submission)

⚠️ Important Notice (Mandatory):
In addition to online registration, all applicants from ISNET Member States must inform the ISNET Secretariat by email after completing their online application.

Applications will not be considered by ISNET if the required information is not shared with the ISNET Secretariat.

Member States are requested to provide the following details:

  • Applied for: Conference and/or Training
