DISTANCE TRAINING COURSE ON “SPACE DEBRIS: CHALLENGES AND MITIGATION TECHNIQUES”; 10 – 13 NOVEMBER 2020
The said distance training course was co-organized by ISNET and SUPARCO. Space debris is a great concern due to its very high speed in orbit as even relatively small pieces can damage or destroy satellites in a collision. Since debris at high altitudes can stay in orbit for decades or longer, it accumulates as more is produced and the risk of collision with satellites grows. There is currently no effective way to remove large amount of debris from orbits, hence controlling the production of debris is essential for preserving the long term use of space. In this course main causes of space debris, its challenges and mitigation techniques were discussed in detail. 22x participants benefitted from the course.
