APSCO/ TUA DISTANCE TRAINING COURSE ON “PATCHED THREE-BODY APPROXIMATION”; 26 – 30 OCTOBER 2020

APSCO and the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) co organized the distance training course on “Patched Three-Body Approximation” from 26-30 Oct 2020. The announcement of the course was shared with ISNET for possible participation from its member states. 4x of ISNET’s participants attended the course. In this course, the basics of the patched three-body approximation in the trajectory design was discussed. First, the planar circular restricted three-body problem was analyzed. Then, the trajectories in the restricted four-body problem were studied by using the patched three-body approximation. Lastly, the example of low-energy transfer to the Moon was studied as the four-body problem of Sun, Earth, Moon, and a spacecraft by using the patched three-body approximation.
