It will progress from digital image interpretation to identification of vegetated sites, followed by techniques to quantify selected forest parameters. The Course will navigate through SRS and GIS software packages to achieve its objectives.

Objectives

Remote Sensing (RS) observes the Earth system, and therefore helps in mapping and monitoring of natural resources (e.g., minerals, forests, water, etc.), management of disasters etc. Photogrammetry, on the other hand, is commonly used for 3D modelling, which has applications in various fields e.g., engineering design, natural resource and environmental inventorying, hydrographic survey, archaeological mapping, etc. Hence, capacity building of the stakeholders including geo-scientific community in the fields of RS and Photogrammetry needs to be enhanced.
 
The main objective of this training is to build expertise on the basic concepts and practical knowledge of Remote Sensing, techniques of Digital Image Processing and Digital Photogrammetry to produce geospatial information by using RS data.
